Tributes from today’s artists and performers
Throughout the commemorative season, artists (from performing arts such as music, dance and drama, but also sculpture and plastic arts) were invited to come and work in the land of Cézanne, both to pay homage to the founding figure of the Provençal master and to bear witness to the continuing creative vitality of Provence. The work of these regional and international artists may take various forms: international events, live performances, exhibitions, street theatre, music and dance, or convivial entertainment.
The Cézanne 2006 season was a major free artistic event, to be held in a spectacular venue designed for a vast audience: a concert given by the Berliner Philharmoniker in collaboration with the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. The backdrop will be the majestic profile of Mount Sainte-Victoire, so often portrayed by the Aix Master.
